Eagle County Smiles, now in its fourteenth year of operation, is a community collaborative program of the Vail Valley Charitable Fund that offers low-cost dental care to local children, birth through 18 years of age, who are uninsured. Over 950 children have been served by the program since its inception in 2010. Through the program children develop a dental home and a relationship with a local dental provider, as well as lifelong healthy dental habits through preventive, restorative and educational care. The program depends upon the collaboration of dozens of community partners including nurses, doctors, dental care providers, public agencies and non-profit leaders. The program’s goal is to help any child who needs it, whether it’s a simple teeth-cleaning or something more serious.
If you know a child who needs dental care, contact their school nurse, medical provider or dentist for a referral to Eagle County Smiles. An application process is required prior to dental services being provided, and that application can be accessed here: Eagle County Smiles Referral 2021.
Support is provided from Vail Valley Cares, Rocky Mountain Health Foundation, Vail Rotary and private donors.

“I am a Prevention Specialist for Eagle County School District and work to help families who have basic living needs, social, emotional and behavioral health needs and other wellness needs by helping them navigate the various resources in our community and surrounding areas to mitigate or find solutions for those needs. For many of the families I serve, there are significant barriers that prohibit them from meeting these needs, of which we address. Thanks to the Eagle County Smiles Program, I have been able to help some of our most at-risk students receive critical dental treatment. This program that has helped so many students in our schools over many years. While I may not have been the one to link all of the families to their services as other referrals are made by various staff members, I have heard numerous stories about their ongoing support to be there for our at-risk students. This program has changed some of our student’s lives and livelihood.”
