EAGLE COUNTY SMILES

Eagle County Smiles—now in its fifteenth year of operation—is a community collaborative program of the Vail Valley Charitable Fund that provides low-cost dental care to local uninsured children, from birth through 18 years of age. Since its inception in 2010, the program has served over 1,000 children, ensuring access to essential dental services.

Through Eagle County Smiles, children develop a dental home and build lasting relationships with local dental providers. The program focuses on preventive, restorative, and educational care to help children establish lifelong healthy dental habits.

This initiative is made possible through the collaboration of dozens of community partners, including nurses, doctors, dental care providers, public agencies, and nonprofit leaders, as well as Vail Valley Cares, Rocky Mountain Health Foundation, Vail/Edwards Rotary and private donors. The program’s goal is simple: to help any child in need, whether it’s a routine cleaning or a more serious dental procedure.

Participating Dental Care Offices include:

  • All Kids Dental

“I am the health manager for the Eagle County School District Early Childhood Program. I can offer testimony to the important work they do to ensure health equity in our community. This amazing program allows uninsured children to receive preventative and restorative dental care with no barriers. Children are not in pain, and they receive the care they need. Children with healthy mouths learn better! The VVCF continues to reduce barriers to care and increase health equity. Their initial mission was to provide financial assistance to those suffering from a medical crisis or long-term illness. They added to their mission the ECS program, to help uninsured children access dental care. Their diligent monitoring of gaps in health care and efforts to bring health equity to Eagle County. Their collaboration with numerous partners and enthusiasm for breaking down health barriers is remarkable..”
